Facebook ranking and Myanmar 2017–18

the researcher's note
Facebook ranking and Myanmar 2017–18. The UN fact-finding mission (A/HRC/39/64, para. 74) found "Facebook has been a useful instrument for those seeking to spread hate, in a context where, for most users, Facebook is the Internet" — and in the same paragraph declined to attribute: "The extent to which Facebook posts and messages have led to real-world discrimination and violence must be independently and thoroughly examined," adding that Facebook could not provide country-specific data on hate speech spread. No number is attributed to the ranking model by the UN or, as far as verified, by the BSR 2018 assessment. The 700,000+ who fled is the world's number here, not the model's, on the UN's own reading.
