- the statistic
- Nigeria rolled out ten ultra-portable digital X-ray units running CAD4TB across eight states. Between January and September 2022, 94,694 people aged four and above were screened; 10,236 were flagged presumptive, and 2,337 were diagnosed with TB. The number needed to screen to find one case was 39 in the north and 37 in the south. Average time to diagnosis was 2.0 days and to treatment 4.2 days, with 50.6 percent diagnosed the same day. Among the confirmed cases 3.4 percent were asymptomatic, cough absent in 18.2 percent and fever in 83.2 percent: subclinical TB that a symptom screen cannot reach. In severity, untreated pulmonary TB kills roughly half of those who have it, so a diagnosis plus treatment start is absorbing for the 2,337 and at minimum severe for the screened population as a whole. Nigeria's population in 2022 was 223,150,896 (World Bank).

The 94,694 screened got a screening; the count that bore the absorbing effect is the effect's own (Nigeria, 2022).
